Hold the beginning of a legend in your hands. This is a rare 1960s G-1 flight jacket with a lighter brown mouton collar, one of the earliest lots. It is an actual release by Ralph Edwards Sportswear, and the label clearly states MIL-J-7823A (AER).
The leather is faded and worn from years of use, but that is what vintage leather is all about. The ZIPP zipper (Talon) and the satin lining inside have been kept in the same detail as in those days.
The size is a golden 42 (equivalent to L). The sizing is comfortable to wear even today, and will surely be a big hit during the fall and winter seasons. It can be worn with a sweatshirt or sweater as an inner layer.
The G-1 is also known as the flight jacket worn by Tom Cruise's character Maverick in the movie "Top Gun. Considering the historical background of the time, this is the perfect jacket for the era of bright mouton collars, and so this is exactly the jacket that was actually worn in the movie, even when compared to the color of the jacket. AVIREX jackets were used in the film.
Condition:
The leather overall has some scuffs, fading and rubbing due to age, but remains in good condition with no wear issues. There are no rips in the ribs or zipper defects, so this piece is still in good working condition.
