We are pleased to announce the arrival of an actual vintage B-15A flight jacket, amasterpiece of WWII cotton flight jackets, which was first adopted in November 1944 during WWII in the late 1940s and was discontinued after only 7 months. The MA-1 and B-15 series were the prototypes of this jacket.
The collar is made of real mouton fur, which provides excellent thermal protection , and the inner lining is fully lined with wool pile. The triangular oxygen tabs (tabs for fixing oxygen mask hoses) on the front are still firmly in place in genuine leather, and every detail has been carefully designed to military specifications. The zipper is a brass zip made by Conmar, and the heavy metallic parts that are unique to that period accentuate the atmosphere. It is also movable, of course.
This item was probably used at the occupiedErding air force base (former Luftwaffe base) in Germany where the U.S. Army Air Corps was stationed during and after World War II. It was worn by the same person as the stadium jacket being displayed at the same time.
As for the condition, there is wear on the fabric around the pockets and one small cut on the front. The ribs on the sleeves and hem are also slightly aged, but the wool pile retains its warmth and the zippers are movable, so the jacket is in very good condition for a practical vintage garment. The sleeve ribs have probably been replaced and the waist ribs are in the same condition as they were when supplied. Both are in good condition. The tag with the contract and size is missing.
This is a military outerwear that wears a part of history as it is, not only the model number B-15A, but also the multilayered story of "the dawn of the U.S. Air Force" and "stationed in Germany after the war" that lies behind the B-15A. It is a piece of clothing with a multilayered story behind it. This is a must-have item for flight jacket collectors and military enthusiasts. This is a used item and cannot be returned. Please note that this is a used item and cannot be returned.
