The ERDL pattern played a pivotal role in the evolution of U.S. military camouflage. Among these, this item features a color scheme with a high proportion of green, commonly known as “Green Dominant” or “Green Leaf.”

ERDL (Engineer Research and Development Laboratory) camouflage is one of the patterns that came to symbolize the U.S. military during the latter half of the Vietnam War. Unlike the various camouflage patterns previously seen only among special forces and certain units, it left a significant legacy as the U.S. military’s standard-issue camouflage.Considering its lineage leading to the later Woodland camouflage, it holds a very important place in the history of U.S. military camouflage.

Based on the contract label inside, this item is DSA 100-69-C-2687, a 1969 contract.The contractor was Covington Industries, Inc. The label reads “TROUSERS, MAN’S, CAMOUFLAGE, COTTON, WIND RESISTANT POPLIN, RIPSTOP, CLASS 2,” and the material is 100% cotton.

The fabric features a cotton ripstop with a clearly visible grid-like weave. It is lightweight yet tear-resistant, making it a practical fabric designed with Vietnam’s hot and humid climate in mind.

They feature large cargo pockets on both sides and a flap pocket on the back. With a waist adjuster and a drawcord at the hem, these trousers boast the refined details characteristic of Vietnam War-era tropical combat trousers.

The size is marked as SMALL-REGULAR. The label still bears the measurements: WAIST 27–31 INCHES and INSEAM 29 1/2–32 1/2 INCHES.

But what’s most appealing is the condition. The fabric and camouflage colors are so well-preserved that it’s safe to say this pair is virtually unused; you can fully appreciate the vivid green characteristic of “Green Leaf,” along with the contrasts of brown, black, and light green.Since ERDL changes significantly in appearance with wear and washing, it’s also very appealing that you can break this pair in and age it yourself from this point on.

However, the front zipper is missing some parts. Please check the photos before purchasing. For this reason, it is being sold as a used item.
